On a recent trip to the Granite Belt region of South East Queensland, I visited an Apple Orchard on the outskirts of Stanthorpe before enjoying the festivities of the Apple and Grape Festival that is held biannually. The sweet smell of ripened apples growing in abundance on the rows of trees was something that I had never experienced. Their skins were smooth and ready, the rich reds were bunched together weighing down each of the branches that almost kissed the ground. Over-ripened apples lay strewn underneath creating a carpet of darker reds against the shiny green leaves.
