The Cherry Blossom is ubiquitous in Japan, and after a recent trip to Kyoto during the Sakura Peak season, I came home with many photos and drawings of the blossoms in parks and gardens across the city. These flowers are so delicate and symbolic with many variations of petal colours. Japanese people picnicked in the spaces around the flowering trees to celebrate the week of Spring. Even though this work rests well in simplicity, it has many layers that have been embedded into the history of the working surface.
