I live and work in southeast Queensland and often walk through the national parks of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland where I take notes, observe, unwind and connect with the earth. These wild bush landscapes are scaffolded with smooth trunks of eucalypt and bark that peels away to reveal a creamy skin. Grevilleas, banksias, native grasses, and young eucalypt saplings are scattered chaotically in the undergrowth. This is where I drink in the smell of gum, the grey greens of the leaves, the heavy pink drip of flowers. And I am drawn back to the romance of my childhood riding horses and wandering through the bush. I love the landscape of this country, the optimism I feel when I am immersed in it and the pure sensory pleasure I get from walking through this unique part of Australia.
