Golden Timberline is the beginning series of new works that are more abstract in their application. This piece is particularly ornamental and seems to have an oriental flavour. I continue to explore the qualities of gold leaf which can easily flatten out an image. So there is a tension between a more three dimensional landscape with trees and shadows and also shapes that a two dimensional. This creates a language that is fun to play with but difficult to unify. Of course the inspiration is always about the Australian landscape and its many unique characteristics.
