Victoria’s High Country experiences cold winters and mild summers.  Much of the year there is a very good chance of snow.  The rugged mountains and deep valleys offer many varieties of eucalypt. The bark on these trees changes colour with the seasons and native grasses and low growing tundra grow in the cleared and exposed regions.  The tonal qualities of a winter landscape with deep blue hills and snow laden clouds offer a canvas to explore shapes and compositional design.  The high horizon line is interrupted by hills and tilting landscape so that I can explore the patterns of trees and negative spaces with a neutral colour palette of earthy blues and raw siennas.
