This feature-wall beach painting was inspired by the colours of the tropics.  Shoalwater Bay itself is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.  It sits quietly off the Capricorn Coast of Central Queensland and is well known for its dugong habitat. This Cove is also a popular destination for boating and fishing.  I used a mix of lemon yellow and transparent turquoise greens to create the clear tropical watery effects.  This is one of the few beach paintings that I have placed a few figures snorkelling in the shallows.  Repeated patterns of buckets, stencilled shapes of beach towels, blankets and chairs sit closely amongst the forms of umbrellas, boats and figures.
