In this composition, I decided to adjust the aerial view so that there is no horizon line separating earth from sky. This tends to create a more intimate snapshot of irregular patterns that trees create when they grow in ravines and sheltered outcrops of the high plains in central Victoria. Because the colour palette is neutral with the occasional spots of vibrant orange to lift the energy, there is room to explore the surface texture and mark making so that the work becomes almost abstract but still gravitates within the landscape genre.
